I'm Sponsoring the Coney Island Film Festival
My pal Val Killmore hit me up to donate some goodies for 100 grab bags getting handed out at the 7th Annual Coney Island Film Festival this weekend. I sent her 100 spooky greeting cards and postcards of my work printed by Ghastly Greetings, and 100 of my new "Bat Hat" girl business cards (originally painted on the back of Val's clowny burlesque partner in crime, Dottie Lux's leather jacket) to promote my SpooksByReusch site.
So go to the Film Festival and grab your goodie bags!

New Creature From the Black Lagoon Mask

I just finished a new mask, it debuted this past Labor Day weekend with Black Cat Burlesque's performance at the the 5th Annual New York Burlesque Festival.
Some photos of the process:

Wire framework of the head, made from 14-gauge galvanized wire from Home Depot, with 24-gauge wire figure-eights to tighten each joint.

Double-wide masking tape wrapping the wire, with some balled-up tape to help mold the features----less-messy and less-smelly to work with than papier-mache

Layers of acrylic paint over a base coat of Mars Black

The Ghastly Ones with Black Cat Burlesque October 4!

I am super-excited to announce that legendary So-Cal Horror-Surf band The Ghastly Ones are headed to the East Coast this Autumn and will be performing with Black Cat Burlesque at the Coolidge Corner Theatre on October 4th. The Nebulas and Rock City Crimewave will be opening the show. BCB has been huge fans of the Ghastly Ones for years and are conjuring up some spookalicious acts for this midnight creepshow!
Feast of Flesh 5 September 29th!

J. Cannibal, "Boston's Horror Burlesque King" presents Feast of Flesh 5 with music by Bad Ash, spookalicious striptease by Black Cat Burlesque, the legendary splatter-fest film, "EVIL DEAD", plus the infamous zombie costume contest, and gorey goodie bags for all the guys and ghouls.
I know a certain glow-in-the-dark Grim Reaper who'll be playing guitar at this show...

Outdoor Halloween Art Sale Tomorrow

I've got a space in my hometown's annual "Art in the Park" festival tomorrow, Saturday, September 8, from 10am-4pm on the Bradford Common. I'll have a ton of SPOOKY signed 8" x 10"s on matte heavyweight and glossy paper at $10 each instead of $20, unsigned CREEPY 8.5" x 11" inkjet prints for $3 each, dozens of Ghastly Greeting cards and postcards at $3 and $1, and more. Whatever's left will go up on eBay afterwards.

Info from the Greater Haverhill Arts Association website:

"For the 16th year, the GHAA Art Festival for 2007 to be held on Saturday September 8, 2007, is to benefit a scholarship fund, workshops and art demonstration programs. Again this year, this "art in the park" ART FESTIVAL will be held on the Bradford Common (across from the white church) on Route 125, South Main St, Bradford, Ma. There is plenty of free parking and food concessions stands in the area."

If you're in the area or want to go on a roadtrip, swing on by!
